Industrial Action – Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July
The NEU has formally notified employers that strike action will take place on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July in relation to a national dispute over pay.
Whilst we will make every effort to open the whole school on the day, indications are that Berridge will need to close some classes. Having assessed the impact and potential risks, and after consultation with the Chair of Governors, I have decided to close certain classes on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July.
Wednesday 5th July
All classes in Reception and nursery (apple pm) will be closed. Morning nursery will be open as normal.
Friday 7th July
All classes in Reception will be closed and Willow class (Year 2)
The rest of the school is open and will operate as normal.
If your child is entitled to free school meals and is affected by this closure then we can arrange for the kitchen to make a packed lunch . This can be collected in the morning from school. Please contact the school office on 0115 9155851 by Monday 3rd July to order the packed lunch. All the other years groups will have a hot meal service as normal.
School will be open to all children following these strike days as normal.
Please appreciate this decision is based upon information available at the time and this may change. We will try to keep you updated as soon as we can in case anything changes.
Summer Fair 2023
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents, carers, children and staff who helped us to achieve such a fantastic community event.
We managed to raise a massive £2027.48 for the school fund which goes towards buying resources and equipment for the children.
Please see our Whole School Gallery to see who won prizes in the raffle draw.
Please see the Whole School Gallery Section of our website to see some pictures from Coronation Day.
Year 6 SATs Week - Tuesday 9th May - Friday 12th May
As you will all be aware, next week will see the year 6 children take their SATs. The tests are timetabled from Tuesday 9th May to Friday 12th May 2023. The timetable is as follows:
|
|
Please ensure that you child arrives on time on these days as the tests will start promptly shortly after morning registration and allowances cannot be given for lateness.
SATs can be a stressful time for children and parents alike. However, talk about the SATs with them. The school will also do this too; however, it makes a bigger impact if school and parents do this together. Children perform best when they are relaxed. It is also essential that your child has early nights leading up to and during SATs week and eats breakfast.
Coronation Day – Friday 5th May
On Friday 5th May we are celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III. We are inviting the children to come to school wearing red, white and blue. Please do not feel the need to buy any clothing especially for this day.
Brushfield will be having a picnic and are asking the children to bring in their own picnic food (School meals will not be available). If your child receives free school meals then picnic food will be provided.
Can the children please bring a blanket to sit on during the picnic and a bottle for them to drink water from.
Bobbers Mill Site will be having a special Coronation lunch and a party in the afternoon.
It will be a fun day for the children across both sites as they will be taking part in various Coronation activities.
Eid Parties – Friday 28th April
To celebrate Eid there will be parties for children during the afternoon of Friday 28th April.
On the day, children will be allowed to wear their own clothes.
We would appreciate it if you could send in an item of food (samosas, pakoras, crisps, sandwiches, cakes etc) for your child to share with their class. *Please can we ask that any food provided is free from nuts as we have children in the school with nut allergies*

Well done to all the children who entered their Easter Egg designs into the competition on Tuesday, they all looked fantastic! Check out the Whole School Gallery to see some photographs of some of the entries: Whole School Gallery
Our Easter Egg competition is returning for all KS2 children. If you would like to take part, bring your entry into school on Tuesday 28th March. We don't mind what you create, but it has to be egg-citing! Please make sure you boil the eggs first!
