Year 3 Focus Page - April 2025
This half term, Whitebeam class hosted a Reading Café and invited their adults to join us for a fun afternoon reading session. This was a brilliant opportunity for parents and carers to see what we do with reading in school.
The book we chose was called ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak.
Before we read the book, we looked at the front cover to predict what we thought might happen. We decided that the story must have a journey, because of the bright sailboat in the background.
As we read, we thought about how the book shows each character and decided if we agreed. We decided that the main character Max learnt the value of love rather than being King!
Finally, we sat and created our own wild things masks, using paper plates and lots of different materials, such as tissue paper, crayons and pastels. They came out amazingly!
