Year 1 Home Learning page
Welcome to the Year 1 Home learning Page!
It’s such a shame we can’t see you right now because we had to close the school for a while. We would really like to stay in touch with you and want you to keep working hard. Each week, on this page, you will find new learning activities for you to complete at home. Try and do as many as you can-we know you can do it! Also, don’t forget to look on the ‘Homework Websites’ page for lots more fun, learning websites.
Keep working hard, we are proud of you!

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. It is a good time to think about our feelings as well as the feelings of the people around us. It is important to look after our emotional health as well as our physical health. Below you will find some ideas of activities you can do to help you think about how you feel, and about how your actions can make other people feel.

Writing:
This week, we would like you to write a simple set of instructions. They could be telling somebody how to wash their hands, brush their teeth, or even how to make a sandwich! You can choose what to write instructions for. Remember to use time language such as next, then, first and finally. Your instructions must be written in the correct order or the person following them will get muddled. Remember, you can email a photo of any work you do at home to info@berridge.nottingham.sch.uk
The teachers have really enjoyed writing to you on the newsletter on this page. Now it's your turn! We would like you to write 5 sentences for us. They could be about any activities you have done at home, how you are feeling about missing school or even what you would love to be doing if we were at school. You choose what to write about. Remember to start each sentence with a capital letter and to use a full stop at the end of each sentence. We would love to see your work so please email it if you can to:
info@berridge.nottingham.sch.uk
Challenge: Write some questions for the teachers and we will answer them if we can. Remember to use a question mark at the end of each question. Make sure you tell us in the email who your questions are for!
Reading comprehension activity:
Read the text about dogs and answer the questions that follow. There are 3 levels, with one star being the easiest and 3 stars being the most challenging.

Messages from the Year 1 teachers
The teachers are really missing being in school with the children. They have written messages to their classes. We hope you enjoy reading them.
Here are some optional activities for you to enjoy over the holidays
We will not be setting tasks for each subject this week as it is the Easter holidays, but remember it is important to keep reading at home and to stay active!
