Self-isolation learning provision Autumn Term 1

COVID-19 AND YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

If your child  has a postive PCR test and has to isolate, you will have to  keep your child at home for 10 days , from the start of their symptoms. 

Below  is access to online lessons linked to the work they would be doing in class this term. 

 

This half term Foundation 1 are learning 'All about me'. They will also be looking at sound- using their voices, the environment and their bodies for percussion. For maths there is a focus on introducing numbers 1-6.

F2's are going to be looking at Autumn, with a focus on woodlands and the Harvest. In maths they will be focusing on numbers 1-3 and understanding how they are made. We will also be introducing the children to initial sounds and the sounds the letters make as we start off their reading journey.

Year 1 are having a look at the human body with a focus on the senses. In English they will be sentence writing with the focus being 'All about me'. Maths this half-term will be concentrating on 1 more and 1 less and also comparing objects.

Year 2 are doing interesting topics this half-term-

Are you a superhero?

What would Paddington see if he went to London? They will be looking closely at London landmarks to help with this.

They will also being looking at how to keep themselves and animals healthy.

In English they will be looking at description, instruction and information text as well as postcard writing. In maths they will be focusing on place value and partitioning numbers.

Year 3 have a fun half-term ahead. They will be looking at Dark and Stormy night and writing recounts with a focus on: punctuation,  simple past tense and time adverbials.

In maths they will be focusing on place value and addition/subtraction.

For their science topic this half-term they will be studying light.

Year 4 have some exciting topics this half-term. In English they will be looking at descriptive writing surrounding Treasure Island. They will also be looking at pirates and Black History Month focusing on Harriet Tubman and black poets. To improve their writing they will be looking at using ed and ing openers and fronted adverbial phrase.

In maths their focus will be place value, partitioning number to 10000, adding multiples of 10, 100 and 1000. Also counting in 25s.

Year 5 are exploring some interesting topics this half-term. They are looking at David Wiesner's Flotsam, with a focus  on diary writing and persuasive writing. In Science they will be exploring Earth and Space. In Maths they are following White Rose but focusing on place value and partitioning numbers.

Year 6 have a great half-term ahead. They are Looking at Hansel and Gretel with a focus on narrative, newspaper reports, figurative language, sentence openers and speech.

In maths the focus will be on the four operations, as well as, place value and fractions. Their geography topic will be mountains, earthquakes and volcanoes. Whereas in science they will be looking at evolution and inheritance.
