‘Challenging times’ Community event on 13th April at The Vine Community Centre, Bobbers Mill Road

With the reduction in local services and the changing benefits system to Universal Credit those on the breadline are finding it harder and harder to manage their incomes.  The event aims to provide support to those on low incomes with practical advice, skills and information on benefits, rights and managing budgets etc. 


Workshops and stalls include:


  • Managing a budget on a low income/accessing debt advice
  • Knowing the pitfalls of loan sharks and use of credit unions / How to open a bank account
  • Healthy eating  and cooking on a low budget/ /food banks and social eating
  • How to reduce your fuel bills/energy efficiency - practical advice.
  • Fantastic Homes mobile exhibition from Marches Energy Agency
  • Access to computers to complete benefit forms
  • Benefits and housing advice including Universal Credit
  • Rights at work
  • Disability supporthe
  • Employability support


There will also be free food, a smoothie bike, children and young people’s activities, Mehndi, massage and face painting. There are also free children’s bikes to give away and other goodies.
